Thomas Augustine Arne, English composer, lived during the eighteenth century.

He is associated with Operas, Stage works and Musicals.
Although his works are obscure in this day and age and rarely if ever performed, he still stands out as one of the most famous english composers.
One work launched him in to fame, and that composition is the much beloved 'Rule, Brittania'.
This song was taken from one of his masques, and to this day is endeared by the english people reminding them of the empire that ruled the waves.
